Why didn't Tomo become a priest?

He was talented, but illness prevented him from realizing his dreams.

Tomo graduated from public school in Peteranac, and then entered the Varaždin High School. Not long after that, he transferred to the Zagreb Seminary, where he demonstrated an enviable knowledge of writing in Latin and German.

Tomo spent a short time in the Seminary and fell ill with, at the time, an unknown disease and remained disabled on one leg for the rest of his life.

As it was inadmissible for a priest, at that time and according to the rules of the Seminary at that time, to be disabled or have some physical defect, so Tom was told that he could not become a priest
