Grind the sound
"The greatest man always remains a child." JW Goethe
Zvonimir would certainly have started his story like this. "When I was a small person, that is, a child, I spent my life in a three-by-three-meter house."
Our famous writer began his life in a village not far from Križevci. As he later said, he had no toys in his childhood. The family lived in difficult conditions and could not afford his greatest wish – a bicycle. Even as an old man, he rode that bike in his dreams. However, fate gave him something much more valuable...
He was imaginative from an early age, and his playful thoughts became his toys. In his fifty-year writing career, he published more than a hundred works. Children and adults from the entire region will forever grow up with his crazy songs, unusual stories and novels. He wrote all his life, and this activity for him was enjoyment, not work. In the year before he died, he published as many as nine titles, and he said that this was not even half of what he had written.
Although he was an incredibly wide-ranging and extremely popular writer, he could not survive on the book. He did various jobs. In addition to being a talented painter, sculptor and illustrator, he also worked as a decorator, administrator, teacher, university lecturer, magazine editor, television editor... However, art was the only thing that filled him and made him happy, and he believed that a good life stems from a spiritual pleasures.
This writer, whose main works were aimed at children, said that he does not write for children. He said he writes for the child in him. It never grew up. This is why the writer created such colorful letters even in his old age! And remained remembered as forever small, but human.
