Ivan Ilcić was only 27 years old, but he firmly stood by his ideals. He was a simple man, a craftsman.
This 27-year-old bootmaker was killed in November 1905 in a city conflict between Social Democrats and Franks.
Nevertheless, his great sacrifice left a great mark in Varaždin. Because Ivan fought for his ideals until his death, he even got a monument in this city.
His monument was erected with donations by the citizens of Varaždin, and with this, this small but great man entered the history of this city.
