A young technician for aviation electrical installations as a savior of equipment and instruments in war
Dragutin Barić was born in Zagreb and is the older of two sons in the family of Ivan and Terezija. He was raised together with his brother Ivan. After his education, he was a technician for aviation electrical installations, equipment and instruments by profession, and he was employed at the airport in Lučko. This young man was married to Božica and had two sons, Dejan and Vedran.
Dragutin was calm, modest and quiet and very loyal to his family and friends, and there came a difficult time of the war when he showed this loyalty to the state, other comrades and citizens.
Namely, at the beginning of the war, Dragutin, as a volunteer in the Homeland War, made himself available to the Croatian Defense Forces and became a member of the active staff of the Croatian Air Force as an electrical equipment technician. He participated in the rescue of equipment, the formation of an aviation workshop, the training of aircraft and the training of young aviation technicians.
This young fighter was killed by a napalm bomb in the rocket attack on the airport in Vrsar at the age of 32. He was posthumously promoted to the rank of HV captain and was awarded the Order of Petr Zrinski and Fran Krsta Frankopan with gilded braid, and the Memorial of the Homeland War.
