About the Croatian hero
A young man from Zagreb fought bravely for the freedom and independence of the Croatian state.
Dragan Pero was born on the first day of 1960 in Čaprazlije, BiH. He was the first child in the family of Mile and Finka. When he was five years old, his sister Snjezana was born.
Dragan Pero graduated from primary and secondary school in Zagreb, and worked as an operating engineer in the company "Piramida" from Sesvet. He founded a family with nurse Snježana, and the couple had two daughters, Ana and Sara.
Dragan was always cheerful, joking and smiling and very resourceful and diligent. With the beginning of the Homeland War, he joined the 204th Vukovar Brigade of the ZNG as a soldier. He fought bravely for the freedom and independence of the Croatian state.
He was wounded in battle and, together with the other wounded, was taken to Ovčara after the fall of Vukovar, where he was killed on November 20, 1991.
He was posthumously awarded the rank of officer lieutenant of the Croatian Army. Dragan Pero was awarded the Order of Petr Zrinski and Frane Krsta Frankopan and the Memorial of the Homeland War.
