He lived handball
- And then I realized how much better a person he is than he was a player, and he was a fantastic player! - sports journalist Viki Ivanović recalled.
As a kid, I watched Zlatko Saračević on TV. I especially remember the final of the 1966 Olympic Games! I loved that dude and his cannon in his left hand! And I adored his crazy hairstyle even more, and the long hair he had on the lower part of his neck.
And then, ten years later, I met him. And then I just realized how much better he is, a better man than he was a player, and he was a fantastic player! He was a lump of a man, a man!
He was my co-commentator many times, and he rarely said a bad word. There was no big difference between private Vlatko and Vlatko as a coach. You could see that he was a good guy and that he never knew how to yell at those girls. Well, that's how he raised his son. And that's how he was, at all times.
My favorite memory of Zlatko was when we would drink coffee in Zadar, in his cafe. Namely, the national team often trained there. Sometimes they drank coffee, and sometimes they got a little drunk. I can't believe he's gone.
Sports journalist Viki Ivanović recalled these memories.
