Aleksandar "Aki" Rahimovski

Jun 5, 1955 - Jan 22, 2022(67)

Macedonian specialties

Aki believed that food, like music, should be enjoyed. That is why he always made sure that his guests tasted the finest Macedonian delicacies.

Aki, in addition to being an outstanding singer and frontman, was also an excellent cook. So he knew how to prepare the best Macedonian specialties for his friends, colleagues, and often journalists.

During an interview, he prepared Shepherd's stew for journalists, and, as he said, "in a 120-year-old pot". On that occasion, he discovered how best to prepare "gravče na tavče" and sarma with lamb offal.

He often visited Zagreb restaurants, where, instead of sitting down as a guest, he would go straight to the kitchen, where he would prepare food just to his taste. He believed that food, like music, should be enjoyed.

That's how the singer Giuliano, in his Evening Show, the show he hosts on Radio Dalmatia, recalled the incident where he had the honor of trying Aki's top cuisine.

He told how it was after the concert in which Massimo, Arsen, Kaliopi and Oliver took part. The team decided to drink one before going to bed. Suddenly, Aki blurted out that tomorrow is his birthday. The tour, of course, got longer, and the musicians went to sleep only after three o'clock in the morning.

- And the man got up at seven in the morning, went to the market to get food, entertained everyone at the market until 10 o'clock, and then returned with a van full of groceries. Giuliano said.

- At the hotel, he asked to borrow the kitchen and prepared Macedonian dishes, and he made a feast for the entire hotel. He entertained us so much that we were almost late for the concert that evening. That's how Aki was. - he concluded.
