In his early days, when Dino made a new record, he used to play it at the Shakespeare club in Split. He wouldn't announce to the public that he was releasing new stuff, but would do it secretly. He wanted to see how people would react to the new sound. If he noticed that people were dancing well, he knew that the record was a hit! One evening, a well-known Yugoslav manager noticed him and invited him to Skopje.

He wanted to see how the audience there would react to Yugoslav funk. The first thing that Dino, as a rising musician, asked was whether he could make any money from that performance. The manager told him tactfully that he didn't know.

To that, Dino, showing his love and dedication to what he does, replied: - I don't need anything to do, as long as I drink and play music, and have good music! –

The guitarist of the Far Coast, Jadran Vušković, told an anecdote about an unusual concert. Namely, the team from the Far Coast and Dino were old friends. When this group was just starting their career, the good-natured Dino would attend their concerts to increase their popularity. That's how they also invited him, while his career was stagnating, to be their guest at concerts. They always had each other's backs. It was the same at one of Dina's concerts.

Dino was waiting for the band. The performance was supposed to start in a few minutes, and there was no sign of the band. He didn't know where they were, or when they would come, or if they would come at all. He didn't know what to do. He wanted the concert to start on time, but that was obviously not possible.

It occurred to him to ask guests from the Far Coast to act as his band. Vušković tried to explain to him that he did not know how to play his songs. He had never played "Elephant" and did not know how to "take it off". Everything was leading to disaster...

However, Dino did not share Vušković's nervousness. It didn't bother him that he didn't have his own band, because he knew that he would make a good concert with any kind of music. "What does it matter if you don't know..." he said nonchalantly to Vušković. This one was still complicated. Dino laughed, hit his palm against his palm and said: - Let's go! If you don't know my letters, then play BLUES! - And so the most original funk/blues concert in our region was performed, with a slight delay. And the weather, it seems, has always bothered Dino.

He once came to play in Opatija with his band. Everyone was ready for the performance that was about to start, but they were surprised because neither the stage nor the equipment had been set up yet. Confused, they called the organizer. He was even more surprised at the invitation.

When Dino angrily explained to him that he would be late for the concert again, he started howling with laughter. - Well, you're only playing here in a month! - he explained. Namely, Dino guessed the day of the concert, but the month seemed to be in a fog. It became clear that there was no middle ground. Dino with his band will either be late - or come a month early.

Trouble after concerts

Dino Dvornik, who needs no special introduction, loved a good time even as a teenager. On one occasion, his daughter Ella asked him for money to go out on the town. He then told her how he and his friends only got a "red horse" from their parents for going out, which was the then slang name for a one hundred dinar bill. Since they didn't have much money to spend on going out, they had to think carefully about which club they could go to. Over time, they realized that it was most profitable for them to go to the club, which they called "U po noge".

The club was called "U po noge" because invalids of World War II used to spend their days there. Since the veterans were drinking there, the prices were extremely affordable. For only one hundred dinars, as Dino said, they would drink five beers each, after which the real fun had just begun. Although the clientele in the club was mostly disabled people, Dino said that they always had a good time because after the cheap alcohol, the kids would also "become disabled with them".

The love story of Dino and Danijela began in Split. Danijela, in a crowd of people, saw him walking through the city and at the same moment thought: - God, this man is everything I don't need in my life. - Coincidentally, the next day, Dino organized a party at home, as he used to say, "according to custom". But they almost didn't meet.

Danijela planned to leave the party early that evening. She had enough fun, Split that night was the same as every other night - the same music, the same people, the same vibes. But somehow, one would say fatefully, she ended up in his apartment on a date. Dino "fixated" her with his gaze, they started talking and mutual sympathy took place. They talked all evening, and Dino fell asleep from fatigue. When the evening ended, Danijela disappeared. She would not leave him a number or an address.

Arriving home, she realized that she did not know how to get to him again, and she herself became sad. They both wished to meet again, but the days passed, and they could not see each other. Finally, they met again by chance in a cafe. Dino did not miss the opportunity then. He quickly approached her and grabbed her hand. That was it.

Dino and Danijela fell in love before Dino released his first album. But at the beginning of their romance, they did not have enough money to finance their life together and marriage. When Dino recorded and released the first album, they knew the time was right.

They got married immediately after the release of the album. Boris advised his son to come live in the Croatian metropolis. He told him that Zagreb offers more possibilities and opportunities for young artists. But Danijela could never even think that she would leave Split.

She loved that city so much that she knew when her mother would send her outside of Split for two days, she would experience "the end of the suite". However, love prevailed. She moved to Zagreb with Dina. Later, she was able to say that she doesn't miss anything in their small apartment, because it has the most important things in it - Dino and Ella. And Dino described their love in one sentence: - When we fight, the whole neighborhood hears us and when we laugh, the whole neighborhood hears us! –

Giuliano used to say that the best tour in his life was the one he went on with Dino Dvornik, Dalek Obala, Golden Ducats and Flying Squad. In sixty days they had more than forty-five concerts. They traveled constantly by bus, which they used to arrive in a new city every day.

On the eighteenth day of no sleep, Giuliano got a terrible headache in the morning. He couldn't even move. At breakfast, he was lying on the table, barely drinking black coffee. At that moment, Dino entered - all happy and cheerful. - Oh dear, what's up! Let's go to Đir, it's a beautiful day! he exclaimed. Giuliano tiredly told him to leave him alone and explained that he had a headache. Dino, without waiting an hour, reached into his pockets and took out handfuls of pills - without the wrappers. Giuliano watched in disbelief at what he was doing.

During that time, Dvornik put his collection of tablets on the table and started sorting through them. - What's wrong with me?!? - he muttered to himself. And then, says Giuliano: - Just like in the Matrix! – took out a blue pill, gave it to Giuliano and explained to him that he should drink it immediately. Then he took out a red pill, which is due in half an hour. – The first one will lift you up, you'll fly, and the second one will put you down and your head will go one hundred percent! Dino explained. After that, he collected all the pills and put them back in his pockets.

He said to Giuliano: "Have a drink and I'll come back for you in a few hours when you're done!" – Giuliano didn't take the pills, but after a while he felt better, so they went for a walk around Šibenik anyway.

How do you make the worst cedevita in the world?

Another legendary story about Dina Dvornik while out on the town, happened after he and Davor Gobac spent two days at a party. Gobac was engaged in painting in those years and used to leave his painting equipment all over the apartment. Along with the other equipment, there were also numerous glasses of water in which he would wash the brushes. After returning from such a long party, Dino ran into the apartment.

- I'm thirsty!! I'm burning! - he shouted and sprinted around the apartment looking for something to drink.

The first thing he saw was a large glass full of orange liquid.

- Cedevita! - he happily exclaimed and finished drinking the glass full of orange paint in which Gobac washed his brush. At first he didn't even understand what was in it, but he quickly concluded that it was the worst cedevita of his life.

- Okay, so how did you buy it? - Daniela asked him.

Dina was annoyed by standing. He hated waiting. But the most beautiful thing about him was that he was always full of surprises. Especially while we would travel together.

He, who never liked to wait for anything, and since you simply have to wait for the plane, needed to have some fun. His main hobby then was walking around duty free stores and shopping.

Once he just showed up at boarding with a package. It was a gift for me. He started to show it to me, he took out a leather case, and when it was inside - an expensive chemical one.

I was also angry at first, what will this chemical do to me! But I still carried it with me, of course. And I still have it today.

And so once in the bank, I was going to take it out of my bag, when Dino started shouting in the middle of the whole bank: - Here, look at that! It! A peasant woman! I buy her the best chemical that can exist', and she insulted me. And now what, now he's signing with that chemical company! –

Another time, when he went to do his shopping before the flight, he came back with perfume. He bought himself perfume. And when he went to take it out of the box, I watched him take it out. And Dino took J'adore, a women's perfume from Dior, out of the box! And I asked him: - Okay, so how did you buy it? - And Dino said: - Well, according to the bottle, I liked the bottle. –

Before the flight

– If I saw him now, I would say to him: "Welcome!" – Danijela about Dina.

Dino was a creative energy. He lived ahead of his time. If I start to remember what I miss about him, I miss his energy.

When he left the stage, Dino was one - a cobbler. He would immediately get dressed in pajamas and slippers, sit at home and watch movies! He loved movies! Lately, he also liked to play games.

I hated when he eats at night. And how he drives around town. And that standing in crowds, that annoyed him a lot. He hated waiting. We solved it so that everyone drives their own car.

I think he would come into his own in the present time. He would do the muse he always wanted. If I saw him now, I would say to him: - Welcome! –
