Frank found himself trapped in the freezing cold of the Battle of the Bulge, facing the danger of losing his fingers crucial for playing instruments. Despite this harrowing experience, Frank survived the war to quickly rise to fame, leading one of the most beloved polka music groups in the entire United States. The late 1940s marked the pinnacle of his success when his hit "Blue Skirt Waltz" was released, instantly becoming a chart-topping hit.
